“Gavigudet” – Comments on “Mega Cement” LLC Scoping Report: What the Agency Took into Consideration while Issuing a Scoping Report

On July 29, 2024, we attended the public deliberation of the scoping report on changes to the operating conditions of  “Mega Cement” LLC cement plant. As usual, we sent our comments to the ministry regarding the report (see link).

Considering one of our comments, after issuing the scoping decision on this activity (Decision N48, 22.08.24), the agency sent the decision and its accompanying documentation to us as well. Our movement has been asking the ministry for years to provide this information in parallel, and we welcome that this time they considered our comment.

Regarding the content of the scoping decision, we offer the common issues that are highlighted by us and in the decision issued by the agency concerning the activity/report:

– Similar to our comment, the agency’s decision also instructs the plant to clarify the issue of continuous monitoring of emissions in the EIA;

– The agency’s decision also indicates the need to provide detailed information about the dust collection system;

– According to the scoping decision, the company must justify the proper functioning of the old mill and present the device’s passport data.
