“Gavigudet” Attended the Public Deliberation of the EIA Report of the “National High Technology Centre of Georgia” LLC
Today, on April 4th, a public discussion of the EIA report on the establishment and operation of the main inorganic compounds (amorphous boron) enterprise of the “National High Technology Centre of Georgia” Llc. was held in Rustavi City Hall.
Besides our movement, the deliberation was attended by members of the company, National Environmental Agency, Rustavi City Hall and City Council.
The enterprise of “National High Technology Centre of Georgia” LLC is currently operating in Tbilisi and holds the relevant environmental decision however, the company decided to move the entire infrastructure to Rustavi industrial zone. Within the framework of the planned activities, construction and subsequent reclamation works are provided. 1.5-2 years are taken into consideration for the construction of the enterprise.
With increased productivity, it is planned to produce 650 kg of amorphous boron for 330 days a year.
In the project area, it is planned to arrange scientific-research and office buildings, with a total area of 8556 m2.
As the representatives of the enterprise and the consulting company confirmed to us at the deliberation, the mentioned production wasteless – no particulate matter is emitted as a result of the process, and as for the liquid waste, it is important to maintain the acidic-alkaline balance, so that high acidity liquid does not enter the sewage water; For this reason, the project company plans to set up a wastewater treatment building.
In addition to all this, it is worth noting, that this was the first time in our practice, when we attended the discussion of such a production. It must be mentioned, that the specific part of the production, where the technological process of amorphous boron production is described, is confidential. However, as the representative of the agency explained, this particular part is available to the experts of the agency who evaluate the EIA report, therefore, they have access to the full information when making a decision.
Besides this, at the deliberation, in response to our question the representatives of the enterprise confirmed, that the production is not explosive-dangerous.
Regarding emissions into the atmospheric air, as it is clear from the document and the specifics of the production process, the emissions from the enterprise is quite low. In order to clean the air-dust mixture, the project includes the arrangement of a two-stage dust-collecting system – cyclone with 98% efficiency and a sleeved filter with 99.4% efficiency.
