\"\"On June 5, our movement attended a deliberation regarding the development of one of the most important political documents.<\/p>\n

The deliberation was held within the framework of the environmental protection and natural resources committee’s themed research – “Challenges and perspectives of sustainable mobility in Georgia”.<\/p>\n

The purpose of the research is to identify the challenges at the legislative and institutional level to achieve the goals of a low-emission, sustainable mobility policy in Georgia and to identify ways to mitigate climate change and reduce air pollution.<\/p>\n

Georgia has developed a low-emission concept based on the commitments made within the framework of the Association Agreement with the European Union and the Paris Agreement.<\/p>\n

The document includes both existing and planned, as well as scenarios for additional measures that serve the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.<\/p>\n

At this moment ministry is working on an initiative, aiming to reduce emissions from the transport sector. This was the reason behind the research, within the framework of which deliberation of interested parties was held today. Deliberation was attended by both government and non-governmental sector representatives who spoke about the challenges and needs of transport development.<\/p>\n

Within the framework of the research, our movement expressed an opinion in written form; At the meeting, we brought up one of the biggest problems for the people of Rustavi, which concerns the problems regarding of Rustavi-Tbilisi intercity transportation and in terms of both, traffic and air pollution, it is a huge burden for both cities. By the way, challenges related to the introduction of intercity transport policy were also highlighted by the government sector. We expressed our hope that within the framework of the concept of low-emission development, proper attention will be brought to this issue.<\/p>\n

The second issue that we have raised regarding air pollution is the challenges related to the enforcement of technical inspections and the abundance and availability of so-called drop-off points of the special device of the vehicle that reduces the harmful emissions from the car We also mentioned that we hope this enforcement challenge will be resolved with the proper enforcement of the law that came into force on June 1 (which includes more strict sanctions for failing technical inspections and controlling emissions on roads).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":3725,"template":"","yoast_head":"\n"Challenges and Perspectives of Low-Emission Mobility In Georgia" \u2013 Deliberation -
