\"\"On August 3 the civil movement \u201cGavigudet\u201d attended the informational meeting on the Draft Law on Industrial Emissions, held in the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.<\/p>\n

The meeting was attended by the representatives of the Ministry and National Environmental Agency, environmental organizations\/experts and other stakeholders.<\/p>\n

According to the Action Plan on Improvement the Ambient Air Quality of Rustavi, the law on Industrial Emissions should have been adopted in 2021; however, it has not yet been applied to the Parliament, and is planned to be introduced in the Autumn session of 2022.<\/p>\n

The purpose of the mentioned law is to prevent emissions into the air, water and soil as a result of industrial activities, or reducing and monitoring them in case it is not preventable, as well as to prevent waste generation. In addition to this, the law determines the procedure for issuing the integrated permit. National Environmental Agency was defined as the authority, responsible for prevention and controlling industrial emissions.<\/a> [1]<\/a><\/p>\n

The obligations imposed by the Law on Industrial Emissions to the industrial facilities are following:<\/p>\n

– Take all preventive measures against pollution;<\/p>\n

– Using the Best Available Technology (BAT);<\/p>\n

– Avoid causing significant pollution;<\/p>\n

– Waste management in compliance with the waste management hierarchy, defined by the legislation;<\/p>\n

– Efficient use of energy;<\/p>\n

– Taking necessary measures to avoid further spread of accidents or other possible incidents.<\/p>\n
